This two story 2200 square foot spacious Pericos Penthouse is breathtaking, with a 40 foot high elevation above the ocean and expansive views. This spectacular penthouse can sleep six comfortably with a private and secure entrance separating it from the other two loft floors below. The open lower floor plan consist of a large kitchen with island, wardrobes for storage, and a huge living room and dining room area with a copper table that seats eight. There is a queen size canopy style bed with Moroccan style canopy mosquito nets and screens for privacy.
All of the furniture was either custom made for the owner on the island of Bali and shipped all the way to Yelapa, or handcrafted from distant villages and cities around Mexico. There is a giant tropical strangler fig emerging through the floor of this two story unit providing a canopy of lush leaves growing in the penthouse.
Connected by a few stairs to the lower floor is a separate "floating deck" covered in a clear acrylic roof, allowing you to gaze up into the jungle canopy at the parrots (pericos) and our resident eagle! This is your grand bath and spa area for the penthouse with a private toilet, double copper sinks, double shower built into two story tall granite boulders and a large Zen Soaking Tub.
The second floor is made out of rare Parota wood found fallen and brought out of the jungle by donkeys and milled for this most unique architectural masterpiece. The loft has two king size beds, each with a large clothes wardrobe. There is a sky bridge connecting the first and second floors. In the center of the loft is a 12 foot wide square atrium with a grand antique, Moroccan Style, 5 foot light with crackled gold glass casting a soft glow onto both floors.
The most amazing feature of the penthouse is the 72,000 palm fronds all woven together to create one of the tallest palapas in Yelapa. Imagine these skilled artists working 70 feet above the ocean constructing this most beautiful palapa roof, all without ropes or harnesses! Most palapadores (palapa builders) have been doing this all their lives, learning from the their fathers and grandfathers.
