Nestled in the southernmost cove of the world's seventh largest bay, and surrounded by over 50,000 acres of the second most bio-diverse jungle and waters of the world, lies the peaceful village of Yelapa, Jalisco, Mexico. Although there is a very long, rough road, which leads to the village, this road is only accessible part of the year, so Yelapa is best accessed by boat, known locally as a panga o water taxi, departing to Yelapa daily from various locations in the Puerto Vallarta area. Casa Pericos, or "House of the Parrots", is ideal for those looking to stay in Yelapa for a totally laid-back, tranquil vacation or honeymoon. There is a small, quiet beach close to Casa Pericos called Playita Isabel, and the main beach is covered in a blanket of golden sand, providing a superb place to swim, snorkel, or parasail. The village of Yelapa and the main beach have around twenty restaurants, of which many are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the Winter season, with around ten restaurants open during the Summer Value season. There are several small corner grocery stores and other businesses to fulfill most of your basic shopping needs and have limited hours of operation. From hiking through waterfall-filled jungles and horseback riding up the river, to relaxing with a yoga class on the beach, Casa Pericos in Yelapa, Mexico, provides the ultimate vacation getaway for those looking for eco barefoot luxury.
